Rekindling Motives ReviewAfter a zillion twists on the cozy mystery, it's hard to find a new profession or avocation for a protagonist - and after a book or two, authors have to stretch pretty hard to make the reader believe that their main character just happens to keep stumbling across bodies and feeling a personal drive to solve the murders, rather than turning things over to the professionals.
In Rekindling Motives, like the first book in the series, amateur sleuth Jolie Gentil stumbles across a skeleton in the course of her work as a real-estate appraiser. And because the pros aren't particularly interested - since after so many years, most of the suspects are just as dead as the victim is - it seems that only Jolie has the determination to see the truth exposed and justice done.
