Scandalicious: A Novel (Zane Presents) ReviewSolay has been all work and no play because her main focus has been her bakery, Scandalicious. Her business is booming, and her delicious cupcakes are flying off the shelves so her dedication has clearly paid off, but her love life is an entirely different story. With no time for men and their drama, Solay's romantic life has suffered and honey has cobwebs! (If you know what I mean) Finally ready to get her groove back, but still not ready for messy emotions or commitments, Solay goes in search of a friend with benefits. Soon she is ordering a handsome companion from Rent-A-Man agency, and before long she finds herself addicted and catching feelings. From that point forward her life begins an unexpected ride that no one involved ever expected.
Melanee is Solay's reliable baking assistant, always at the bakery before Solay whipping up the day's goods, and always hoping to mix up a brand new creation. Seemingly overnight Melanee becomes a different person, anorexic thin, withdrawn, sneaky, and then all of the sudden she's gorging food to reach a healthy weight, daydreaming throughout the work day, and whistling a tune. Solay and her employee Vidal are completely perplexed by her odd behavior and wonder what type of life Melanee leads outside of Scandalicious. They have no idea the Melanee is highly immersed in the life of masters, slaves, submission, and domination. . . always anticipating directions from her owner.
Having been unfaithful and seeking forgiveness, Chevonne is willing to do anything to get her husband, Lincoln, to put her indiscretions behind them. Agreeing to go to marriage counseling, the couple is soon told that a temporary open marriage is exactly what they need. Not at all comfortable, Chevonne is repulsed, and quickly recoils at the very idea of counseling. Lincoln, on the other hand, questions if being allowed to sleep with another woman is truly a good idea. Nothing allows a couple to learn more about each other like throwing in a third party. With the complacency of their marriage completely disrupted, both Chevonne and Lincoln decide they want their marriage to work more than ever but, has too much damage already been done? Will Lincoln seek revenge in an attempt to forgive his wife? I highly recommend reading this scintillating tale to discover the answers to these questions and more! After David'slastassignment, which ended with food poisoning, it's not the best of starts, especially since the job is a last-minute thing. He doesn't expect to run into a woman from his past. First looks can be deceiving. The food isn't the only thing on the menu he'd like to taste. In particular, I enjoyed the way she used the device of the kitchen fire and the previous case of food poisoning, to grab the attention of the reader and to draw them into the story. Once I began to read Taste of Passion, I was unable to stop reading until I had reached the author's bio. Ms. Chase has written a story that is rich in life, love, courage, conflict, and triumph. She has created a world in which I could readily see myself living. Her characters are so three-dimensional that I could easily see myself sitting down to share a holiday meal with David and Valentine. Taste of Passion is one that I shall read many times in both the near and far future.
